Heroes Con -- Welcome Brian Shearer -- Books On The Shelf Posted: Mon Jun 16, 2008 8:09 pm By: Steve Bird
We've got a bunch of stuff to let you know about this time around, so let's get right into it.
First of all, we're going to be at Heroes Con in Charlotte this coming weekend. We're set up with an "end cap" and we've got some kick-ass new vertical banners which should make us easy to find. As for who is showing up, I believe the list includes myself (Steve Bird), Rick Ketcham, John "Waki" Wycough, new studio member Brian Shearer (more about him in a moment), Randy Green, Kelly Yates, Garry McKee, Jason Walker, Mike Torrence and Eric Layton. Robert Atkins and Clayton Brown, if I'm not mistaken, will not be able to make it this year (hopefully next year, guys). Please come by and say "Hi."
Second, as I mentioned above, we have a new studio member: Brian Shearer. You may be familiar with his work as the artist on the indie book "Gravy Boy." He's now working on a graphic novel adaptation of a classic American novel (we can't say which one just yet -- I'm sure Brian will post something about it here when he's able). He's renting studio space with Rick, Waki and me in downtown Greensboro. He's a great guy, and a talented artist, and we're happy to have him.
And finally, on the self-promotional side, I've got some books on the shelves I'd like to tell you about. Blue Beetle #27, on the shelves now, as well as issue #28 next month, are drawn by penciller David Baldeón and myself. Also, Checkmate TPB vol. 3 entitled "Fall Of The Wall" came out a couple of months ago, and features a story I inked over Chris Samnee's pencils, that I was very happy with -- it's quite a different look from work I've been doing lately (which I'm also very happy with). Please check them out.
So let's welcome Brian to the studio, and we hope to see all of you at Charlotte this weekend!

Robin #172 hits stands this week Posted: Thu Mar 20, 2008 8:03 pm By: Steve Bird
Robin #172, pencilled by David Baldeón and inked by me (Steve Bird), hits stands this week. I just took a look at the finished product, and this issue has turned out very nicely. Chuck Dixon has returned to Robin, and is doing a very nice job on the writing chores. Also, a past character makes a surprise return in this issue. Please check it out! I've included some page scans at the link below:

David Baldeón and I have been working together of late doing fill-in issues on Blue Beetle (#19) and Robin (#169), among other work. Right now, we're working on another issue of Blue Beetle (#27). We hope to make a regular thing of this, so keep an eye out for our collaborations.
Thanks, and take care!

HEROES ONLINE COMIC Posted: Tue Mar 11, 2008 10:03 am By: rqatkins
So I got the chance to work on HEROES through NBC. They create side stories introducing new characters and elaborating on established characters through short chapters in an online graphic novel.
These online chapters will then be published as collected trades down the road.
I penciled the most recent story called "Pieces of Me" Chapter #76.
It was just posted today on NBC.com
